More than 150 bikes will be donated to Mission of Hope

Bucky's Bikes was able to raise more than 150 bicycles for Mission of Hope on Sunday.

Bucky's Bikes, a Knoxville charity, received more than 150 donations from the East Tennessee community for Mission of Hope Sunday.

The charity met at the Holston Hill Country Club and celebrated their fifth annual event. At the end of the event, organizers said they received exactly 174 bicycles.

The charity was created in one man's legacy, Bucky, who believed every child should wake up Christmas morning to a new bicycle. Since then, it has been the charity's goal to gather donations and give them to children in need. That way kids can wake up early on Christmas to find a special gift waiting under the tree.

An organizer said this is the largest amount of bikes they have been able to donate in the last five years.

The Bucky's Bikes Knoxville Facebook page said it thanks everyone for what they do, and thanked the Jefferson City Walmart for their generosity in donating.

Mission of Hope will continue their campaign until Dec. 5, so you still have time to donate items in blue barrels across Knoxville.
