A group called Disabled American Veterans is making it easier for East Tennessee vets to get to the doctor.
The group donated a van Friday to the local VA. It will take veterans without transportation to the closest VA hospital in the Tri-Cities.
Both groups said the program is life changing for many East Tennessee veterans.
"We have many veterans who simply would not be able to get there for the care they need and as a result of that their lives would suffer," VA Clinic Chief Medical Officer Andrew Sexton said.
Disabled American Veterans also provides volunteers to drive veterans to the hospital.
