Several roads in Great Smoky Mountains National Park closed due to snow and downed trees

GSMNP announced on Twitter that several roads will be closed in anticipation of a winter storm warning.

Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park — Great Smoky Mountains National Park announced that several roads will be closed due to winter conditions.

Cherokee Orchard Road is closed at the park boundary due to ice, snow and downed trees until further notice.

The Gatlinburg Bypass reopened Tuesday afternoon.

U.S. Highway 441 (Newfound Gap Road) between Gatlinburg and Cherokee, NC is closed for ice and snow up to 12 inches. . 

Also closed is Laurel Creek Road, Cades Cove Loop Road and the Little River Road from the Sugarland Visitor Center to the Townsend Wye.

The Foothills Parkway that runs along the Smokies has also been closed after snow knocked down several trees onto the road.
