ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol said two people died after a van crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer Monday morning.
According to a report from THP, the crash happened on January 10 around 8:15 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 356.
THP said driver 63-year-old Robert Rich of Rockwood and passenger 39-year-old Adam Milburn of Rockford, Illinois were traveling on I-40 in a cargo van behind a tractor-trailer.
THP said that the tractor-trailer was slowing down due to lanes being closed for a different crash when the van collided with the rear of the trailer.
Both Rich and Milburn died in the crash, and THP said Milburn was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
No charges have been filed at this time.
