A mom helps other moms find a work-life balance and she knows exactly why this is so important. She lives it every day.

Life with little kids. It's chaotic, but it's so sweet. It's a life Courtney Jones knows well. She was raised here in Knoxville.

"I was raised by a stay-at-home mom and a serial entrepreneur," says Jones. "I had this really exciting childhood of getting to see both the values of having a stay-at-home parent and also the excitement of being a small business owner."

Courtney graduated from the University of Tennessee and had a good job with a local company.

"Got married to a wonderful man and then we decided to start a family and that's when this whole adventure began for me," says Jones.

After she had her first child and went back to work, it didn't feel right.

"For me when I was working, even if I was having a great day at work, I was thinking about what my family was doing," says Jones.

That's when she knew it was time for a change. "I did want to work. I really did want to continue being an active professional, but I also wanted to be the one who took my kids to doctor's appointments and I wanted to be the one who packed their lunch and had lunch with them at school," says Jones.

And then the perfect idea came along. The more Courtney talked with her friends, the more she realized they all wanted one thing.

"Eighty two percent of people would be more loyal to their employer if they had increased flexibility," says Jones. "Employers want great talent. They are willing to offer flexibility. We have educated professional people who want the same thing. So it's finding a way to introduce them to each other."

That's when she started Mom Source, a company that connects smart moms with flexible jobs..

"Book keeping, data entry, telecommute, marketing positions, social media, a lot of science and lab positions," says Jones. "It started very organically. It was not ever designed to be a business like it's turned into."

Mom Source is now in three Tennessee cities and it's booming. And Courtney has exactly what she wants, a flexible job and time with her kids.

"This is a dream come true for me because what I sought out was to find this balance for myself and I was able to do it and I know how fulfilled I feel," says Jones.

Part of that fulfillment comes from living in East Tennessee. "I really don't think there's a better place in the country to start a business. The volunteer spirit is here! I cannot imagine ever leaving East Tennessee. It's a blessing to be able to be here," says Jones.
