Some JTV employees laid off in an effort to 'streamline the business'

All affected employees will be supported with severance packages and guidance in their transition, according to CEO and JTV President Tim Matthews.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville-based Jewelry Television laid off a number of employees last week in an effort to improve performance in the "challenging global economic environment," the network said in a statement to 10News. 

JTV said its "limited reduction in force will help streamline the business and prepare for future growth." It also said the "reduction was int he single digits and in select departments." The company was still hiring workers in its call center and operations departments.

All affected employees will be supported with severance packages and guidance in their transition, according to CEO and JTV President Tim Matthews. 

"JTV remains committed to investing in key priorities that ensure the delivery of extraordinary jewelry and gemstones at extraordinary prices to valued customers," the network also said in its statement.
