Meet reporter Brittany Bade

I joined the Channel 10 team in June 2015 and am thrilled to get to call East Tennessee home!

The lush green landscape and winding rivers are just the change I was looking for, having grown up in the Arizona desert.

I graduated as the 'Outstanding Undergraduate Student" from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Like many high school seniors, I picked my college major on a whim and thought I'd end up changing it. But after my 'Television News Reporting' class, I was hooked.

As much as I do love Arizona, summers there feel like the inside of an oven. In a desperate search of cooler weather, I spent my college summers interning in San Diego, California at KSWB (FOX) and in Los Angeles, California at KNBC (NBC).

I made my on-air debut on KAET (PBS) on a show called "Cronkite News". C.N. gave me the opportunity to not only anchor and report in Phoenix, but also to serve as a Washington Correspondent for the entire state of Arizona.

While in Washington, D.C., I covered the developing Phoenix Veteran's Affairs scandal, multiple security breaches at the White House and President Obamas' executive action on immigration. I also met a famous couple that lives in the White House. Of course, I'm talking about Bo and Sunny Obama (the First Dogs of the United States.)

My reporting earned me regional awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the William Randolph Hearst Foundation.

When I'm not at work, I enjoy running, hiking, exploring my new home, trying new restaurants, and of course, shopping.

I love hearing about what's going on in your life or community, so send me your story at babade@wbir.com
