Farragut's robotics team hosts 'Great Robot Race'

Every year, the Flagship team, part of Farragut High School, can race each other with their own, hand-made, robots.

The Farragut High School team, Flagship, invited the public out to one of their annual fundraisers at Sir Goony's Family Fun Center Sunday afternoon. Anyone who came out could take place in mini-golf and participate in a raffle. Many came out to race their robots!

Every year the team competes with their own student-made robots. They build the bots with their own parts which can cost a hefty price of $4,000.

The students have a minimum of five business they have to reach out to for sponsorship and this year the team has over 36 sponsors.

Adam Cook, the team captain, said that he looks over the team as a whole.

"It's important to me mostly because, not just myself - for the future to become the future leaders of not just America - but the world," Cook said. "We try to teach all of our new members about business, engineering, art, mathematics, science so that when they get out into the real workforce, they have all those skills ready at their disposal."

This event was just one of many. If you're interested in participating in any of their events, be sure to follow their Facebook page for more upcoming STEM-related events.
