KPD investigating deadly 'targeted shooting' outside Knox Rail Salvage in the Old City area, victim identified

According to the Knoxville Police Department, a man was dead and the suspect drove away before officers arrived.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (12/14): The Knoxville Police Department has identified the victim of the shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon.  

KPD said that 51-year-old Christopher Hill was shot at least once in an "apparent targeted shooting."

The investigation is ongoing at this time. 

Anyone who potentially witnessed the shooting or with information can contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.

The Knoxville Police Department said Wednesday that officers were investigating after a deadly shooting on Depot Street in the Old City area, outside of Knox Rail Salvage.

Police said a man was shot at least once in an "apparent targeted shooting." KPD said he was found beside a box truck and was pronounced dead on the scene. In a post on social media, KPD said the reasons for the shooting were still under investigation Wednesday afternoon.

Police also said the suspect involved in the shooting drove away before officers arrived. Information about the suspect's identity is not available.
