KPD: Woman injured after hit-and-run in Old City, police investigating

The Knoxville Police Department posted a photo of the involved sedan.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (2/15): The Knoxville Police Department has a photo of the car that was involved in a hit-and-run in Old City on Saturday, Feb. 10. 

The car struck and seriously injured a woman on Jackson Avenue near Wagon Wheel before driving away. Anyone with information about it should contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. 

According to a police report, the hit-and-run happened on Central Street near Willow Avenue at around 2:50 a.m. It said the woman was on the sidewalk on the side side of Central Street and crossed the street, "not at an intersection and not in a provided crosswalk." The car was heading south on Central Street and hit her, dragging her into the intersection, according to the report.

According to the police report, witnesses said an airbag was deployed after the car crashed into the woman.

They also told authorities it turned eastbound onto Summit Hill Drive.

The woman was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with "possible serious injuries."

A woman is in the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries after being struck by a car early Sunday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Department.  

At around 2:50 a.m., KPD was dispatched to Jackson Avenue near Wagon Wheel, where a woman had been hit by a car that left the scene. The 28-year-old woman was then taken to the UT Medical Center, KPD said.

Based on evidence at the scene, KPD believes the involved car was a silver sedan that was traveling south on Jackson Avenue.
