TBI: LaFollette couple working as caregivers indicted with abusing and financially exploiting elderly man

Robert Heatherly, 41, and Alisha Heatherly, 39, were indicted and arrested, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a LaFollette couple was indicted for abusing and financially exploiting an elderly man while they worked as caregivers.

The TBI said that authorities asked in December for agents to start investigating allegations against Robert Heatherly, 41, and Alisha Heatherly, 39. Agents said they learned the couple was caring for a 79-year-old man and had failed to provide proper care.

On Wednesday, a Campbell County Grand Jury returned indictments charging both with a count of financial exploitation of a vulnerable person and a count of aggravated abuse or neglect of a vulnerable adult.

Both were arrested Thursday and were booked into the Campbell County Jail. They are being held on a $150,000 bond, each.
