LCSO: Suspect armed with a machete after breaking into residence is in custody

William Ragen was found in Knox County by the Knox County Sheriff's Office Wednesday evening.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — UPDATE (8:03 p.m.): The suspect armed with a machete from London, KY has been found by the Knox County Sheriff's Office Wednesday evening, according to the Laurel County Sheriff's Office

On early Wednesday morning, LCSO investigated a complaint of a male armed with a machete off Slate Ridge Church Road. William Ragen, 39, fought with the deputy and fled on foot into the woods.

Later, he allegedly forced his way into someone's home and left threatening the occupants with a machete. Once another Laurel County deputy arrived at the scene, they found that Ragen had run into the woods. 

Laurel County's Special Response Team was then called to the scene to search the woods for him.

Ragen was considered armed and dangerous at the time. 

Ragen was then found on Hazel Fork Road in Knox County and arrested without incident. 

Laurel County deputy took him into custody and transported him back to Laurel County charging him with burglary in the first degree. 

He was placed in the Laurel County Detention Center.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who is considered armed and dangerous after breaking into a residence in London, KY Wednesday afternoon.

William Ragen was originally reported missing Wednesday at around 6:30 a.m. by law enforcement. He was last seen off Slate Lick Church Road at the time. 

Ragen then ran from law enforcement "apparently" intoxicated and may be having mental issues, LCSO said. 

As of 12:20 p.m., Ragen allegedly broke into a residence off Springcutt Road near Rocky Branch Road. He is apparently armed with a machete, according to Laurel County officials. 

He is 5 foot, 7 inches tall, has brown hair and was last seen wearing a black leather jacket.

If you see Ragen, avoid contact and call 911. Laurel County's regional Special Response Team is responding to the Rocky Branch area.
