Knox Co. Schools celebrates top coupon book sellers after first year with mobile app

Knox County Schools said a Powell Middle School student was the top seller and will be featured on the cover of the 2023-2024 coupon book.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knox County Schools is wrapping up its annual coupon book sale and is celebrating the students who sold the most.

This year, the school system introduced a mobile app as a supplement to the traditional coupon books. Every printed coupon book had a unique code that let buyers access most of the same coupons on their phones, allowing them to have two coupons for most businesses and almost guaranteeing they could access coupons when they needed them.

The top seller was a Powell Middle School student — Bella Courtney. She will be featured on the cover of the 2023-2024 coupon book.

"I've been doing it forever and it's just, like, a good experience. And, it helps the school. So, I love it," she said. "I just smile and ask, 'Would you like to buy a Knox County Schools coupon book?'"

KCS held a ceremony to highlight the top sellers, and everyone who attended received a free lunch, a certificate of achievement and passes for bowling and laser tag. Students who sold at least 50 coupon books also received a basket full of goodies.

Anyone who still wants to buy a coupon book can purchase one at any of four Knox County Clerk/Trustee satellite offices. They are listed below.

  • East Town Crossing (4734 Centerline Drive)
  • North Knoxville / Crossroads Centre (7328 Norris Freeway)
  • Chapman Plaza (7339 Chapman Highway)
  • Cedar Bluff (1028 Old Cedar Bluff Road)
