Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park — The National Parks Service is celebrating National Park Week from April 20 to April 28.

This nine-day celebration kicks off with entrance fees being waived on April 20, followed by events and activities throughout the rest of the week.

"Each day of National Park Week has a special theme to showcase many ways to experience, learn, or get involved with national parks and what we do outside of our park boundaries," the National Parks Service said.

Some of these themes include Junior Ranger Day and Earth Day.

With more than 400 national parks across the country, there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to finding an event.

The National Parks Service has included a list of all the themes for National Park Week on its website, along with virtual parks to stay connected while still at home.

"Discover what the National Park Service does through our programs and partners to preserve natural and cultural heritage and provide recreational opportunities in places across the country—and even the world," the National Parks Service said.
