A free medical clinic in East Knoxville is expanding its hours.
Magnolia Avenue United Methodist Church hosts the clinic and a meal program on Mondays. It's located at 2700 E Magnolia Avenue.
The clinic is currently open from noon to 2 pm, but now it won't close until 6 pm, thanks to more volunteers.
It's open to anyone. They hope the expanded hours will help them reach more people, especially the working poor.
"It's hard to leave your work and come be seen by a provider of care. So now those people will have an opportunity and it will really benefit another group of people that we would love to provide care for," said Dr. Janet Purkey, a volunteer at East Knox Medical Clinic.
Clinic organizers say they can always use more volunteers, which would allow them to be able to expand their days as well as hours.
