10 About Home: Ways to celebrate Easter during the COVID-19 pandemic

Even though you can't worship together face-to-face, many churches are finding ways to adapt and spread the gospel.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — During this time of social distancing, people are doing almost everything at home. That includes celebrating Easter.

Normally on Easter Sunday churches across the country are packed, but not this year. Even though you can't worship together face-to-face, many churches are finding ways to adapt and spread the gospel.

Social media has a way of connecting us and many churches are using platforms like Facebook and Instagram for livestreams and recordings. 

If you’d like to get out of the house, you can visit a drive-in service. Turn the parking lot into pews and enjoy worship in your car. You can go as you are, dressed in your 'Sunday best' or your PJs. Also, remember to check and see if the church is hosting sunrise service.

Even though we don't have the option to gather with all our family this year, you can still enjoy Easter dinner. Many local restaurants like Maple Street Biscuit Company, Buddy's BBQ and the Old Mill are still serving special take out menus for Easter.

After streaming or watching service online, there's plenty of activities you can do with your kids at home.

Community-wide Easter Egg Hunts aren't the best ways to celebrate the holiday right now. Instead, it's better to surprise kids with an Easter Egg Hunt at home.

Help the little ones dye eggs and decorate them. If you'd like to preserve the eggs you bought for quarantine, maybe paint rocks instead.

Creating a Resurrection Garden could be a meaningful project. It's an inexpensive craft that can help teach your children the meaning of this holiday.
