KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Four Knoxville area players earned top honors at the 2024 Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards held at MTSU in Murfreesboro on Tuesday night. More information about each of the winners is available below.

Division II-AA Miss Basketball: Sydney Mains (Knoxville Catholic)

Knoxville Catholic's Sydney Mains took home the Division II-AA Miss Basketball title after an impressive season with the Lady Irish. Her senior year was filled with milestones, including setting the school's all-time scoring record for girls' and boys' basketball.

The FAU-commit talked about what goes into winning an award like this.

"It's a lot of insane hours. My dad comes in and we start early in the morning, starting before high school." Mains said, "So it's a lot of stuff that people don't fully understand."

Class 3A: Tyler Lee (Fulton)

In Class 3A, Fulton's Tyler Lee Fulton is the second player in school history to earn the Mr. Basketball honor. Jaylen Steele was the first to win it back in 2011.

Lee said it's special to be talked about in the same regard as Steele when he played for the Falcons.

"I'm blessed. I can't complain. I didn't think I'd make it this far," Lee said.

Class 2A: Jahvin Carter (Alcoa)

Jahvin Carter takes home the title for Class 2A. Carter is the first player in Alcoa basketball history to win this award.

The senior point guard and Penn State signee said the hard work has paid off over the years.

"It's unreal. You work so hard, and it finally pays off. Especially for this award, no one from this school has gotten it, so it means a lot," Carter said.

Class 1A: Jordan McCullum (Harriman)

Harriman senior standout Jordan McCullum is taking home the trophy in Class 1A. McCullum reflected on his basketball journey after receiving the award on Tuesday night.

"My whole family hooped, so I'm just blessed to be able to hoop at this level and entertain so many," McCullum said.
