Boyfriend of missing Morristown woman arrested for lying about her whereabouts

A Morristown family says they're one step closer in the ongoing search for 24-year-old Inesha Haygood, who was last seen on Dec. 29 driving with an unknown man.

A Morristown family says they're one step closer in the ongoing search for 24-year-old Inesha Haygood, who was last seen on Dec. 29 driving with an unknown man.

Police said her boyfriend 32-year-old Simeon Mendoza is facing charges for lying about her whereabouts.

"When we had searches, he never came except for one of them,” Inesha’s brother Emanuel Haygood told 10News.

A warrant shows Mendoza, 32, is facing a “false reports” charge after investigators said he gave incorrect statements about the last time he saw her.

"We're still hearing stuff that people say they know or have heard, but none of it's been true so far," Haygood said.

He said her disappearance has been hard on the family – especially for her 7-year-old daughter. Four months after her disappearance, he still wears the necklace his sister Inesha left him.

"We just need closure. Especially for her daughter and her mom and me, and the rest of her family and friends," Haygood said.

Relatives started their own searches along with the Morristown Police Department’s investigation.

So far, nothing has come of those leads.

Despite the lack of leads, and all rumors and misinformation the family has heard, Haygood said they're staying strong.

Now that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations has joined the Morristown Police Department’s investigation, Haygood has a renewed hope.

"They've been telling us and giving us updates. So it feels like we're a little closer,” he said. "The hardest part is not knowing for sure what happened, or where she's at, or who did it. That's just the hardest part."
