LPD: No injuries reported after train derailment in LaFollette on Saturday

Multiple train cars carrying commercial products overturned. Repairs to the railroad are expected to take three to four days, the LaFollette Police Chief said.

LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. — No injuries have been reported after a CSX train derailed in LaFollette off Jacksboro Pike on Saturday, the transportation company said. 

Multiple train cars carrying commercial products overturned. Repairs to the railroad are expected to take three to four days, said Stephen Wallen, LaFollette Police Chief. 

Multiple agencies including the Emergency Management Agency, the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the LaFollete Fire Department were on site.

Some of the cars were carrying corrosive material but those were not derailed and remained intact, Wallen said.

CSX said the roads in the area will remain closed until it is finished with repairs. 

More information such as the cause of the derailment is unknown. This story will be updated when more information is available.
