Fire extinguished at Y-12 building

The fire was in a building that contains the Rubber Shop, which produces parts for computer operations.

A fire at the Y-12 National Security Complex Monday prompted an evacuation of 95 employees.

According to a release from the National Nuclear Security Administration, the fire was in a building that contains the Rubber Shop, which produces parts for computer operations.

It was extinguished by water sprinklers and the Y-12 Fire Department at 8:23 a.m., accordingtoofficials.

The release saidthe fire did not involve any nuclear materials.

Thetwo employees who discovered the fire were sent toa health services office for evaluation. They were treated and released.

Y-12 officials are now working to determine the cause of the fire as well as the clean-up process.
