GSMNP: Knoxville man identified in deadly motorcycle crash on the Spur

One man has died after a single motorcycle crash on the Spur between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. A second crash happened on the Foothills Parkway.

UPDATE (Monday Sept. 18, 9:15 a.m.): Great Smoky Mountain National Park officials identified the man who died after crashing his motorcycle on the Spur Sunday.

Officials said 24-year-old Lawrence Overby Tuck, IV of Knoxville crashed after sliding into a guardrail past Huskey Grove Road north of a tunnel between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Gatlinburg EMS declared Tuck dead at the scene of the crash before taking him to LeConte Medical Center.

UPDATE (Sunday Sept. 17, 10:48 p.m.): The Great Smoky Mountains National Park Rangers closed two separate park roads for two serious motorcycle crashes Sunday evening, according to a release from the National Park Service.

A single motorcycle crash was reported around 6:20 p.m. on the Foothills Parkway between mile marker 7 and 8. An adult male was transported by Lifestar to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Park rangers, Rural Metro and Blount County Sheriff, Fire and EMS responded to the crash, according to the release.

Around 8:38 p.m., a single motorcycle crash was reported north of the Spur between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, the NPS release said. Gatlinburg Police Dept., Fire and park rangers responded to that crash.

The man was declared deceased at the scene according to the Gatlinburg EMS.

The Spur reopened at 10:38 p.m.

Previous story: Sevier County dispatchers confirm an crash involving a motorcycle happened on the Spur between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge around 8:30 Sunday night.

Gatlinburg Ambulance and Fire Department and Pigeon Forge Fire are on the scene at this time.

Dispatchers say they do not have information about any other vehicles that may have been involved in this crash as well as the conditions of any other injured.
