The Knoxville Police Department responded to two separate shootings early Sunday morning.
Police said the first shooting happened around 1:00 a.m. Sunday where 20-year-old Deaundre Johnson at Smithwood Apartments was found with more than one gunshot wound. Johnson was taken to UT Medical Center. Investigators said multiple shell casings were found lying on the roadway near Johnson.
The second shooting happened a short time later, according to police. Police found 18-year-old Daniel Gann suffering from more than one gunshot wound. Gann was transferred to UT Medical Center. The location of where he was shot is not known at this time.
Investigators attempted to interview both the victims in the shooting. Gann refused to speak to investigators. Johnson was not able to speak to investigators. Police said they are uncertain if these two incidents are connected.
