Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are currently involved an ongoing investigation at the Claiborne County Justice Center in Tazewell.

At the moment, there is no clear indication what exactly this investigation is about.

The building houses the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office, the jail, courtrooms, and other offices, but only the sheriff's office appeared to be closed to the public on Tuesday.

The TBI's Mobile Crime Unit van was parked outside, with investigators walking in and out carrying papers and evidence bags they've brought out of the building. 10News crews also noticed agents checking in and around several vehicles used by the sheriff's office.

Both the FBI and the TBI said any information related to the investigation would come from the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee.

WBIR 10News reached out to the U.S. Attorney's Office, who responded saying the office does not comment on pending investigations.

Claiborne County Mayor Jack Daniels said he was unaware of any sort of raid, and all calls made to the sheriff's office were sent to voicemail.
