Morristown apartment fire displaces 15 people

The fire department said the Red Cross is helping 8 families who lost their homes in the fire.

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — Several families were displaced after a fire consumed an apartment building in Morristown.

The fire destroyed an eight-unit apartment building on West Fifth North Street near the Hamblen County Justice Center.

Crews responded around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters said they arrived to find flames coming out of a back window of one of the units. They said it took them about two and a half hours to put the fire out and check for hot spots.

The fire department said no one was hurt, but the building was declared a total loss. MFD said 15 people were displaced.

The American Red Cross was called to help the victims in the meantime.
