TBI: 3 people charged in Crossville man's July 2022 drug-related death

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a man provided drugs to the victim, and two others provided the drugs to that man.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. — Three people are facing charges more than a year and a half after a 34-year-old Crossville man's drug-related death.

The man, Christopher Hale, died in July 2022 due to the combined effects of fentanyl and ethanol, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. TBI agents and deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office started investigating his death and identified three people involved.

The TBI said one of the men supplied the drugs Hale took before dying, and two others supplied the drugs to that man. All three were indicted on Jan. 8, and two were arrested on Jan. 10. The third man, Michael Daignault, was arrested in North Carolina and extradited on Jan. 23.

A list of all three men and the charges they face is available below.

  • Michael R. Daignault, 61 (Bond: $500,000): One count Manufacture or Sale of Schedule II Fentanyl, one count Manufacture or Delivery of Schedule II Fentanyl, one count Second Degree Murder.
  • Jerrica Marie Hayes, 35 (Bond: $70,000): Four counts manufacture, delivery, or sale of Schedule II Controlled Substance Fentanyl.
  • Frazier Norris, 77 (Bond: $70,000): Four counts manufacture, delivery, or sale of Schedule II Controlled Substance Fentanyl.
