A Tennessee singer captivated judges with his youthful voice and courage as the oldest contestant on NBC's hit singing competition show "The Voice."
Dan Shafer, 56, of Mt. Juliet, appeared on "The Voice" Season 11 Blind Auditions Episode on Tuesday.
Coach Blake Shelton pushed his button advancing Shafer to the next round.
"You are what I love about The Voice!" exclaimed Shelton. "This guy has an amazing voice!"
Shafer grew up playing in bands and writing jingles. He created the lyrics for "Transformers" the cartoon.
Shafer said he put music on the back burner for his family.
"All of a sudden you are 56. Where did life go?" Shafer told the judges.
His song choice, "Marry Me" by Train, impressed all four judges.
"After all of these years it's my last chance to make my dreams come true," said an emotional Shafer.
New to "The Voice" this season, coach Miley Cyrus said, "I am so happy for Dan. He's an image for everyone to never give up on your dreams."
