KPD: 16-year-old West High School student hit by car

The student suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, the Knoxville Police Department said.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said a 16-year-old student had serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in front of West High School Tuesday morning. 

The female student was hit by a Toyota 4Runner at the intersection of Sutherland Avenue and Tobler Lane around 8 a.m., according to KPD. 

The 4Runner was attempting to turn left from Tobler Lane onto Sutherland Avenue when it struck the student while she was crossing the street, KPD said.

According to the department, no charges will be filed.
