$951 million Powerball drawing: Winning numbers revealed

No one has won Powerball's top prize since New Year's Day, amounting to 38 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.

WASHINGTON — The Powerball jackpot has grown to $975 million after no one won the top prize in Saturday night's drawing.

Lottery players had a shot Saturday at a $951.1 million Powerball jackpot that has been growing larger and larger since the last winner nearly three months ago.

The winning numbers were 12-13-33-50-52, Powerball 23 and Power Play 3X.

While no one hit the jackpot Saturday, tickets in Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania all matched the five white ball numbers correctly, winning $1 million each.

The Saturday jackpot was initially set at $935 million, but the estimate at the time of the drawing was announced as $951.1 million.

The next drawing is Monday night, which has a cash value of $471.7 million.

Powerball's grand prize approaches $1 billion just as one lucky winner snagged a $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot on March 26.

No one has won Powerball's top prize since New Year's Day, amounting to 38 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. That streak without a winner is nearing the record number of 41 consecutive drawings, set twice in 2022 and 2021.

The game's long odds of 1 in 292.2 million makes it a rare jackpot. By making the top prizes hard to hit, jackpots can grow large and then attract more sales.

The $975 million prize is for a sole winner who chooses an annuity, paid over 30 years. Winners typically opt for the lump-sum cash option instead. The prizes would be subject to federal taxes, and many states also tax lottery winnings.

The winning numbers for Saturday's drawing were 12-13-33-50-52, Powerball 23 and Power Play 3X

If a winner matches all five numbers and the Powerball, they have the option to take the full jackpot paid out over 30 years, or a smaller cash payout. Winners almost always take the cash option.

Even with the smaller lump sum payout, federal taxes will eat into those winnings, and some states also tax big lottery prizes. Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

When is the Powerball drawing?

The Powerball drawing takes place live at 10:59 p.m. Eastern every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets, which cost $2 per play, are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

What are the odds of winning the Powerball?

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million.

Over the past few years, huge lottery jackpots have become more common as lottery officials have changed the rules and ticket prices to boost top prizes.

Powerball's biggest change came in 2021 when officials decided to add a Monday drawing to its weekly lineup of Wednesday and Saturday evening drawings. At the time of the announcement, Powerball proclaimed the addition of the Monday drawing would lead to "larger, faster-growing jackpots."
