Election 2024: Early voting underway, featuring presidential race, county races

Voters will pick from county local offices as well as delegates representing presidential candidates.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Early voting starts Wednesday in East Tennessee, with Knox County adding two new locations for people to cast their ballots.

The new locations in Knox County are West Knox Senior Center, 239 Jamestowne Blvd. in Farragut, and Clear Springs Baptist Church, 7350 Tazewell Pike in Corryton.

Knox County is offering 11 early voting spots. You can go to any of them if you're a registered voter. Bring identification when you go.

Early voting will continue through Feb. 27. In addition to normal business days, some stations will be open Saturdays. None will be open Sunday during the early voting period.

Election Day itself -- if you want to wait that long -- is Tuesday, March 5. If you wait until then to vote, you'll have to go to your regular precinct center.

In Knox County, some voters will face a hefty, paper ballot.

Republican voters will have to choose from dozens of delegates for their choice for U.S. president. The Democratic ballot is smaller.

Also, multiple Knox County Commission and Board of Education seats are up for a primary.

Knox Countians also will have a chance to vote in the county primary for property assessor and law director. Knox County Criminal Court Judge Hector Sanchez also is up for a vote.

Tennessee is among more than a dozen states taking part in the Super Tuesday presidential primary.

In August, county voters will face a general election for county offices and a primary for state and federal offices including congressional and legislative races.
