KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A man is at large after robbing the Newport Federal Bank, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The FBI said he entered the bank around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon and approached an employee. He gave a note demanding money, according to the FBI.
Agents also said the suspect indicated having a weapon. The suspect ran away after getting money from the employee, according to the FBI.
The suspect is described as a white male with short hair with dark sunglasses who was wearing a long sleeve shirt.
At 4:36 p.m. Cocke County Mayor Rob Mathis shared on social media that the suspect had likely left the county.
