UPDATE: One person was killed in a crash involving six vehicles on Interstate 40 westbound in Cocke County Monday morning.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Franklin Moore, of Clover, South Carolina, died in the crash. Three other men in separate vehicles were injured in the crash.
According to THP, Moore was driving west on I-40 when his Ford Explorer hit a guardrail on the left side of the road, causing it to spin before coming to a stop in the road. The Explorer was then hit by three other cars in a chain reaction.
THP is still investigating the crash.
ORIGINAL STORY: All lanes of Interstate 40 in Cocke County have reopened after a major multi-vehicle wreck closed the westbound side of the interstate Monday.
According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Cocke County Emergency Management Agency, I-40 west was closed at mile marker 430 and traffic was diverted onto US-25/70 until the wreck could be cleared.
Cocke County EMA said two semi trucks and at least four cars were involved. It is unknown if anyone was hurt in the wreck.
