Turkey season kicked off across Tennessee today, and you are still allowed to hunt

While TWRA officials will not stop you from being in the woods or on the water, officials do still encourage social distancing.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Turkey season started today across the state on Saturday. 

And TWRA wants you to know it will not stop you for being in the woods or on the water during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The agency says it encourages people to get out and social distance - saying that social distancing doesn't apply to the space between you, wildlife, and the outdoors."

The agency does say hunters should remember Tennessee's new law requiring you to tag large game including turkeys.
