(WBIR-KNOXVILLE) Jason Zachary was sworn in Monday as the State Representative for the 14th District.
Zachary won the Republican primary earlier this month. Since there was no Democratic opponent, he took the open seat left by Ryan Haynes. Speaker of the House Beth Harwell swore Zachary in at his church, First Baptist Concord in Farragut.
Zachary says he's ready to take on the challenges of public service and is looking forward to serving his community. "Just the weight and the responsibility of serving the people that I love," he explained. "The people I've done life with for 23 years."
The 2016 session of the General Assembly will convene on January 12th.
