KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee won its first-round game of the NCAA Tournament in dominant fashion against Saint Peter’s on Thursday night.

After the 83-49 victory, the team celebrated. A typical way of doing so is advancing your name on the NCAA Tournament board.

Vols forward Colin Coyne got the honors to do so and well he hit the boards so hard he broke part of it.

“They told him to punch it and he took it for real,” Vols guard Santiago Vescovi said. “He took it serious and punched that thing. He even cracked it. It was great.”

Coyne, a senior walk-on who saw playing time in the final moments of the game against the Peacocks, laughed when asked about it.

“I was not expecting that whole thing to happen,” he said. “I was just trying to make it sound loud, not actually damage the board or miss the line for that matter. Yeah whoops, that’s all I have to say.”

Tennessee hopes to slam their name on the board again by punching a ticket to the Sweet 16.

They will take on Texas on Saturday at 8 p.m. for their chance to do so. That game will broadcast on CBS.
