KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee men's basketball finished No. 5 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll as well as the USA TODAY Coaches Poll on Tuesday.

It is the highest ranking the Vols have ever received to finish the season, another accolade to what many are considering to be the best season in program history.

UT made it to the Elite 8, which matched the deepest run by a Vol team in the NCAA Tournament. It also happened in the 2009-2010 season.

Tennessee won the SEC regular season championship outright for the first time since the 2008-2009 season. The team finished 27-9 overall and 14-4 in SEC play.

The Vols were ranked 9 times in the AP top 5 throughout the season, which is the second most in program history. Tennessee is in the AP top 25 for the 59th consecutive week, which is the third-longest streak in the country behind Houston (85) and Kansas (64).
