KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee basketball guard D.J. Jefferson entered the transfer portal on Monday afternoon, a source confirmed with WBIR on Monday.
Jefferson redshirted the 2022-23 season while practicing and traveling with the team. Jefferson made his first and only Tennessee debut in UT's 80-42 season-opener against Tennessee Tech this season. He had three points and two rebounds in that matchup but had no other minutes in any other game this season for the Vols.
Jefferson is the second player to enter the portal after redshirt freshman guard Freddie Dilione V entered on Thursday.
The Richardson, Texas native could have been a more involved guard for the team with Dalton Knecht, Josiah-Jordan James, and Santiago Vescovi departing from the program, but with only playing one game throughout the whole season, he's likely looking for a more significant role elsewhere by entering the portal.
