KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — No. 6 Tennessee softball won its fifth straight conference series with a dominant victory over Mississippi State in a 7-3 victory Sunday afternoon.

In the second inning, Sophomore, Taylor Pannell slammed her fourth home run of the season to get Tenessee's offense going. In the top of the third, a double from McKenna Gibson plated Laura Mealer and Kiki Milloy to put the Lady Vols up 3-0 early on.

Zaida Puni was the difference maker in this matchup. In the same inning, she knocked out a two RBI home run to center field, adding to Tennessee's lead, 5-0.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the 4th with a 3 RBI homer from Paige Cook to cut into the Lady Vols lead. But Puni responded with her second big swing of the day to secure the series win for Tennessee.

To end the game, Sophia Nugent hit a single to get Puni across the plate, and UT ended up winning 7-3 against the No. 15 Bulldogs. Tennessee is now 32-7 overall and 12-3 in conference play.

Next, the Lady Vols will host LSU at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium in a three-game series starting Friday, April 19, at 6 p.m. ET.
