KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville's soccer team is starting its 2024 away season with a new jersey, now featuring the city's most recognizable landmark — the Sunsphere.
“The Sunsphere is having a moment,” said Drew McKenna, Managing Partner at One Knox. “With its fresh blue makeover and the continued growth of Downtown Knoxville, the Sunsphere isn’t just a reminder of the 1982 World’s Fair. It’s an iconic feature of where Knoxville is headed. With Evan’s unique ability to take something ubiquitous like the Sunsphere and give it a unique spin, we’ve been able to put together the prettiest kit in One Knox history.”
The jerseys were dreamed up by local designer Evan Ford.
“I was thrilled when One Knox was announced. I was honored when I was given the opportunity to play a part for One Knox,” said Ford. “I wanted to reflect how the sunset appears on the Sunsphere - how each row of panels becomes a gradient when that time hits."
One Knox will start its 2024 season with the new jersey design when against Charlotte Indpendence on March 16. On March 23, the team will return for a home game against Lexington SC at Regal Stadium.
