TSSAA Football Playoff Brackets Released
TSSAA releases annual high school football playoff brackets

Friday marked the end of the season and for many area teams, a chance to continue the season in the playoffs.

TSSAA released its annual brackets and schools now know the route it will have to take to get to a state championship.

Class 6A

In Class 6A, the number one seed is Maryville (10-0), who will face number eight Walker Valley (5-5) out of Cleveland. The Rebels have a chance to have a rematch against either Sevier County (7-3), the four-seed, or number five Hardin Valley (6-4), who face off in the first round. Morristown East (6-4) comes in as the number six seed. It will face #3 Dobyns-Bennett (8-2).

#3 Dobyns-Bennett (8-2) vs. #6 Morristown East (6-4)

Class 5A

South Doyle (10-0) headlines Class 5A with an undefeated record and the one-seed. It will face number eight Gibbs (5-5). Central (5-5) comes in as a seven-seed and won't have to travel far to face number two West (9-1). In the four vs. five matchup, Campbell County (8-2) is set to play Morristown West (7-3). Anderson County (8-2), the two-seed, will play number six Tennessee High (7-3). Five-seed Clinton (7-3), who narrowly missed the playoffs a year ago, will play four-seed Cleveland (5-5).

Class 4A

Fulton (10-0) was tested for the first time all season against Carter, but comes in as a one-seed and played eight-seed Scott County (7-3). Catholic (9-1), which suffered its first loss to Alcoa in Week 10, dropped to a four-seed and will play five-seed Elizabethton (8-2). Catholic could potentially face Fulton in a second-round matchup. Three-seed Greeneville (9-1) will play six-seed Carter (7-3). Loudon (10-0), missed the playoffs a season ago, but earned a number one seed this year and faces eight-seed Macon County (5-5).

Class 3A

Alcoa (9-1) is a one-seed and faced number eight Johnson County (4-6). Gatlinburg-Pittman (7-3) will play Sweetwater (6-4) in the four-five bracket. Three-seed Pigeon Forge (7-3) plays six-seed West Greene (6-4). Seven-seed CAK (5-5) will try its hand against Chuckey Doak (7-3), the two-seed. McMinn Central (8-2), also a two-seed will play the seven seed, Grundy County (5-5).

Class 2A

Oneida (9-1) will have a first-round bye as the number one seed. Four-seed Boyd Buchanan (5-5) out of Chattanooga, will play five-seed Rockwood (7-3). Number three Grace Christian (7-3) will play number six Meigs County (6-4).

#4 Boyd Buchanan (5-5) vs. #5 Rockwood (7-3)

Class 1A

Number one Greenback (8-2) has a first-round bye and is set to face the winner of the four-five game between Sunbright (6-4) and Oakdale (6-4). Coalfield (6-4) is the three-seed and plays six-seed Harriman (5-5). Midway (4-6), a five-seed, will play the four-seed Red Boling Springs (6-4). Copper Basin (6-4) is a two-seed and has a first-round bye.

Webb (7-3) Is a number one seed in Division II Class A and earned a first-round bye.
