Vols in the 2020 NFL Draft

Tennessee has 3 prospects that could be drafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. WBIR 10 Sports Madison Blevins and GoVols247 Wes Rucker preview these players.

The NFL Draft kicks off tonight. It will be a virtual draft as GMs, coaches, and teams make their picks from their individual homes. Even commissioner Roger Goodell will announce the selections from his home basement. Tennessee has 3 prospects that could be drafted. That’s WRs Marquez Callaway and Jauan Jennings and edge rusher Darrell Taylor. GoVols247 Senior Writer Wes Rucker gives us insight into why these players should be on the board.

First up is Tennessee’s top prospect edge rusher Darrell Taylor. In his senior season, he led the Vols in sacks and was 2nd in the SEC with 8.5 sacks. Taylor played the entire 2019 season with a stress fracture to his left shin. This drew the attention of NFL teams and analysts alike, knowing he competed at that level while battling an injury.

Tennessee Volunteers linebacker Darrell Taylor and defensive lineman Kyle Phillips celebrate with linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. after he returned a interception for a touchdown against the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.

Next up is WR Jauan Jennings. He brings size and skill but didn’t have the best showing at the NFL combine when he ran a 4.72 in the 40 yard dash. That was the second slowest time at the combine for a wideout. However, as a senior, Jennings led Tennessee with 59 receptions for 969 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Lastly, WR Marquez Callaway. He ran a 4.55 40 at the combine and finished his senior season with 30 receptions for 636 yards and 6 touchdowns.
