Wintry weather continued moving through East Tennessee on Friday after brisk winds and snowflakes swept through the area the day before.
The weather prompted Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials to temporarily close Newfound Gap Road Friday due to snow and ice. The section of the road closed is where it runs between Gatlinburg Tenn. to Cherokee, North Carolina.
Crews also spent the day clearing snow and ice from the area. Snow can create hazardous road conditions in some areas around the Great Smoky Mountains, so officials closed some roads on Thursday, too.
