Group that works to foster love of libraries in Knox Co. asking for gently-used book donations

The Friends of the Knox County Public Library said they could sell books to raise money or donate them to local groups.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — A group that works to foster a love of libraries and books across the Knox County community is asking for people looking to make room on shelves to donate used books.

The Friends of the Knox County Public Library organization said on social media it can give donated books to local groups through its Books of the Community program. It can also sell donated books to help raise money to support its programs and maintain its office.

Book sales are scheduled across the Knoxville area throughout the year. The organization also helps fund programs like Storybook Trails in Knox County parks, the Children's Festival of Reading and the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound.

The organization asked people not to donate textbooks, encyclopedias or condensed books. It also asked for books to be in "good to great" condition, and can accept up to three boxes of books at a time.

Anyone who wants to donate gently-used books can drop them off at any library branch across Knox County. Anyone with more than three boxes of books to give away can call the organization at 865-215-8775 or send an email to info@knoxfriends.org to schedule a large donation.
