BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn — Update (4/29): The Blount County Sheriff's Office arrested a person after a deadly shooting on Friday.
BCSO said it responded to a shooting call on Pryor Road, which is located in a rural community off Nails Creek Road between Wildwood and Seymour. The sheriff's office is still investigating the incident and said 54-year-old Corey Baerns died in the shooting.
Deputies said they responded to the victim's home on Pryor Road around 10:30 p.m. on April 26 and found Baerns outside with a gunshot wound. Deputies said they tried life-saving measures on him but were not successful. Baerns was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Deputies said they found and arrested a suspect, 31-year-old Jeffrey Rimback from Rockford, shortly after arriving at the scene. They said he was charged with filing false reports and is being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility on a $100,000 bond pending a hearing in court on April 29 at 1:30 p.m.
