KCSO: Victim identified after Nov. 29 shooting on Maynardville Pike, no suspect identified

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said the shooting appeared to be an isolated or targeted incident and is being investigated.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (Dec. 6, 2023): The Knox County Sheriff's Office identified the victim in the Halls' Nov. 29 shooting as Demetrius Lamont Johnson, 25.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday they were searching for a suspect after a man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Later Wednesday night, KCSO said the victim had died due to the shooting.

According to a release, deputies responded at around 3:48 p.m. to calls about a shooting at 6408 Maynardville Pike, near the intersection with Rifle Range Road and Brown Gap Road in the south Halls Crossroads area. Deputies said when they arrived, they found the victim.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available, and KCSO said detectives were working to get information about it. KCSO is also investigating the shooting. A spokesperson said the shooting appeared to be isolated or targeted.
