KCSO: 2 charged after road rage shooting in Karns area

The victim said they honked their horn and threw their hands up at a Buick that had pulled in front of them. They said someone inside the Buick started shooting,

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Two men are facing charges after a road rage shooting in the Karns area Tuesday afternoon.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened at around 5 p.m. on West Emory Road near Karns Valley Road.

Deputies charged Marcus Watts from Knoxville with attempted first-degree murder and Christopher Sentell from Maryville with accessory after the fact and reckless driving.

According to the arrest report, the victim said they were driving west on Emory Road when a Buick pulled out in front of them. The victim said they honked their horn and threw their hands up at the Buick before it pulled over and got behind them. They said the Buick then swerved next to their car before three gunshots hit their vehicle. 

The arrest report said Sentell was driving the Buick and Watts shot at the victim.

The Buick drove off before it broke down at a different location. KCSO a stranger gave the two suspects a ride to an address on La Barrington Boulevard before they tried to escape to Blount County.

KCSO said its Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.
