Knoxville man facing several charges after Tellico Lake boating crash that hurt multiple kids

The man is facing BUI and felony vehicular assault charges after hitting kids riding on a tube with his boat back in July, TWRA said.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville police arrested a man after a Loudon County grand jury indicted him in a July boating crash that injured several kids.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said Scott Reasonover, 48, is facing felony charges after the July 13 crash at Tellico Lake near WindRiver Marina.

According to TWRA, Reasonover was believed to be boating under the influence when his vessel collided with a tube being pulled by another boat. The crash hurt all four occupants, and one was in critical condition.

TWRA said back in July that four people were riding on the tube before the crash. Three of them were kids who had to be taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with serious injuries.

Reasonover is facing one count of felony vehicular assault, four counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, boating under the influence and a child enhancement penalty of boating under the influence.

TWRA said the Knoxville Police Department took Reasonover into custody so he could be brought back to Loudon County for an arraignment. He is being held on a $15,000 bond.
