KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department wants citizens to be aware of recent phone scam callers identifying themselves as KPD officers.

In this scam, the caller is claiming to be a KPD officer saying that the person receiving the call missed jury duty and a warrant has been issued for their arrest. The caller also says that the person receiving the call will need to provide a cash bond.

KPD said they and any other law enforcement agency will never call to request money if there is a warrant for your arrest.

The Morristown Police Department also warned people of scam calls of the same nature.

If you receive this call, do not comply with the demands, hang up and report it to KPD at 865-215-7268.
