COCKE COUNTY, Tenn — After asking the public for help, the Cocke County Sheriff's Office identified the body that was found in the Del Rio area on Friday, Feb. 23.
Twenty-six-year-old Michella Day was found about 15 feet down an embankment off Punkton Road, according to a release from Sheriff C.J. Ball.
Day is originally from California but had an "established residence" in Hamblen County, CCSO said.
The sheriff's office is still awaiting final autopsy results but said preliminary reports indicate that Day did not have any trauma to her body that would've caused her death, according to CCSO. The sheriff's office was waiting for toxicology results on Monday.
The sheriff's office said it is continuing to investigate her death and how her body ended up at that location remains ongoing, CCSO said.
