TBI: Rockwood man faces attempted murder charge in Cumberland Co. shooting

According to authorities, the victim was an acquaintance of the shooter. She is being treated for injuries in a Knoxville hospital.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. — A 29-year-old man is facing charges after shooting a woman on Monday in East Cumberland County, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

On March 11, TBI agents, along with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, responded to a report of a woman who was shot at a home in the 2000 block of Smith Mountain Road. The victim was taken by helicopter to a Knoxville hospital, where she is being treated for injuries, TBI said.

Authorities later identified the shooter as Jonathan Duncan, an acquaintance of the victim, Friday morning. Duncan was arrested and charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of felon in possession of a firearm. 

He was booked at the Cumberland County Jail on a $1,035,000 bond.
