Before You Vote: What to know about Knox County elections

"We are just looking to make sure people have as much information as we can provide," Chris Davis said.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — 2024 is a consequential year for elections, with voters going to the polls to elect local and state leaders as well as the next President of the U.S.

On April 20, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the election process in Knoxville. The Knox County Election Commission is offering an "Elections 101" seminar.

"We'll cover a variety of topics," said the Knox County Administrator of Elections, Chris Davis. "We're gonna sit down in a three-hour setting with breaks and cover a variety of topics that people call about."

Davis also said this event will focus on misinformation and give them a chance to provide factual information about the voting process.

"We're gonna talk about everything from, how you maintain the integrity of the voter database," he said. "And what steps does the election commission take to make sure our votes are protected?"

The event is open to every Knox County registered voter and is completely free, according to Davis.

"We want folks that are interested in the process who not only will take this information and ask questions but go out and share it with their communities," Davis said.

The event is being held at 1645 Downtown West Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with those attending required to pre-register on Knox County's website.

Davis also said elections generally have larger margins with more informed voters.

"We are just looking to make sure people have as much information as we can provide," Davis said.
